Our philosophy
We are an early years community where children and their families’ wellbeing is our primary focus. We harness the influence of wellbeing as we activate core life skills through play. The safety of every child is paramount to this work. In alignment with the rights of the child and contemporary child safety legislation, we uphold that all decisions, interactions and environments must be in the best interests of the child and support their right to be safe, heard and protected from harm.
Our philosophy is based upon the principle of educére: to draw out and lead forth. Our aim is to draw out young learners’ capacity and to take them on a journey to explore the world around them. This approach affirms children as active participants in their learning, in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and resonates with the Early Years Learning Framework, which positions children as capable, competent and connected learners. We recognise that when children are safe and their dignity is upheld, their natural inclination to wonder, inquire and make meaning can flourish.
We uphold the National Quality Framework and understand that child safety is integral to the National Quality Standard, particularly around children’s health and safety (QA2), relationships (QA5), and governance, leadership and accountability (QA7). We are committed to creating environments, relationships and practices that align to these standards, while meeting ongoing legislative reforms relating to psychosocial safety, reportable conduct, and other child safety obligations.
Wellbeing knowledge building is key to the development of best practice, and we view children, families, educators and leaders as researchers who learn and adapt together. We collaborate with national and international experts to build our professional knowledge and strengthen our practice in line with current evidence, sector expectations and contemporary rights-based approaches.
Our educators are our most valuable resource. They are highly trained, well-supported and central to our transformational community. With children, their wellbeing, including their safety, is our starting point. In line with the Child Safe Standards, every interaction, both intentional and spontaneous, is conducted with attention to duty of care, dignity, equity and the prevention of harm. We honour diversity in all its forms and uphold inclusive practices that ensure every child’s right to belong.
All play, ideas and learnings at Thinkers.inq follow creative and critical thinking practices that foster effective problem-solving, flexible thinking, and agency-building. Our environments are intentionally designed to stimulate inquiry while maintaining safe, inclusive and accessible conditions for all. They are filled with natural light, fresh air and meaningful curiosities to support play, relationships and wellbeing, and to uphold each child’s right to learn, grow and flourish in safety.
CHILD SAFETY & WELLBEING
The safety, rights and wellbeing of children are paramount. Children learn best in environments where they feel safe, respected, and empowered. Child safety is not peripheral to education; it is the condition that makes deep learning, play, risk-taking, curiosity and agency possible.

Child Safety Statement
Thinkers.inq Early Years School is committed to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and empowerment of every child in our care. We believe that all children have the right to feel safe, respected, and valued in an environment that nurtures their natural curiosity and supports their holistic development.
Our philosophy places children’s and families’ wellbeing at the centre of everything we do. We harness the influence of wellbeing and core life skills through intentional and purposeful play, recognising that every interaction, both planned and spontaneous, should contribute to each child’s sense of being, becoming and belonging. This approach underpins our commitment to creating environments where children flourish emotionally, socially, physically and cognitively.
Thinkers.inq Early Years School has zero tolerance for child abuse and neglect. We hold a shared responsibility, among educators, leadership, families, volunteers and the broader community, to protect children from harm, to listen to and respect their voices, and to take all concerns seriously. We actively promote children’s safety and wellbeing through clear policies, robust practices and ongoing reflection and improvement.
